Our Mission

Maryland Collie Rescue is devoted to re-homing and rehabilitating abused, neglected and abandoned purebred collies within the Maryland / DC area.

	Maryland Collie Rescue is available for information sharing, emergency foster care, fund-raising efforts and transport services to assist displaced collies in the Maryland/DC area in finding quality "forever homes."
	Private rescue effort established in January, 2006.

Collies Love Cats! (Well, many of them do, anyway!)

Miss Rebecca - poor sweet kitty whose previous owner died, and who was then taken into foster. She is very affectionate, very talkative, and she likes to sleep on the bed with "her" human. She seems to be a little more fond of the woman of the foster home than of the man, but not by a lot. She'd just prefer to sleep on the woman's lap.
Sunshine is an athletic spayed female shorthair tortoiseshell cat, relinquished by a down-on-their-luck family. She's an affectionate, healthy, older kitty, but with no chronic conditions.	Photo Coming
Meet Pepper, a distinguished 13 year old brown Tabby cat. Poor Pepper - his young owner died unexpectedly, and a caring family temporarily took possession of him, to try and find him a good home. Pepper has lived With: Children, Dogs (2 miniature schnauzers, shih tzu), Other Cats, Small Mammals, Fish, and the Elderly. Loves to sit on the lap and cuddle, likes to explore the house, plays with strings and toy mice, likes to climb and sit on a lookout, likes to chase you if you are up for a game of hide n' seek. He comes from a smoke-free, loving and caring home; his fur coat is purrrty, he has the most gorgeous eyes, he is the perfect house pet since he has gotten along well with many other animals and people

We Met Lassie!

MCR Met Lassie at the World of Pets Expo in Timonium, MD.

A few of the MCR Volunteers were privileged to meet with the World's Most Famous Dog - Lassie, and Lassie's Handler, Carol Riggins. The entire Team Lassie was very gracious and kind.

Many thanks to the World of Pets Expo organization for hosting the event, to all the MCR volunteers who helped out, and to all who visited and were so generous with their donations.

Maryland Collie Rescue wins The Just Dog Breeds "Dog Rescue Award!"

The designation is awarded exclusively to breed rescue groups as recognition for their hard work and kindness towards dogs.

Howliday Bone-Anza a Howling Success!

MCR's first annual Howliday Bone-Anza was an outstanding success. Co-hosted with our Pawtner, Greenbelt Animal Shelter, local artists donated handcrafted items to sell, and our adoptables were visiting. Santa Paws was available for pet pictures with Santa. The event was successful beyond our hopes, and plans are already underway for an even bigger and better event next year.

Maryland Collie Rescue Ambassador Jake recently met Jon Provost, the original "Timmy" from the Lassie TV show, along with famed collie author/artist Ron Hevener at the 6th Annual World of Pets Expo, held in Timonium, Maryland.
