January 28th, Greenbelt, Maryland ---  Maryland Collie Rescue (MCR) Ambassador Jake recently met Jon Provost, the original "Timmy" from the Lassie TV show, along with famed collie author/artist Ron Hevener. while attending the 6th Annual World of Pets Expo, held in Timonium, Maryland.

MCR Collie Ambassador, Jake attended the event with co-founder Lisa Dupree to help promote collie rescue in Maryland.  While touring the facilities, they were able to visit with both Provost and Hevener.  Mr. Provost was on-hand  as part of the entertainment line-up, speaking about his time spent with Lassie.  Mr. Hevener was also a presenter, speaking on The Making of a Champion.

Provost won the role of Timmy at age seven.  During his career as a child actor and teen heart throb, he worked with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood: Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby in "The Country Girl", Natalie Wood and Robert Redford in "This Property is Condemned", Rod Steiger and Anita Ekberg in "Back From Eternity", Clint Eastwood in "Escapade in Japan", Kurt Russell in "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" and on television with Kim Novak, Jack Benny, Ann Sothern and even with that famous talking horse, Mr. Ed.

He received a Genesis Award for Outstanding Television in a Family Series for a script he wrote focusing on the inhumane treatment of research animals. His autobiography, TIMMY'S IN THE WELL, is due out in September, 2007, on his 50th anniversary as Timmy.

Mr. Hevener owns one of oldest dog show kennels in the U.S. ("Lochranza," specializing in Collies since 1945). His dog "Kane" (Ch. Amberlyn's Bright Tribute) was featured in his popular novel "The Blue Ribbon." In addition to being a successful author, Mr. hevener is also an accomplished artist who started by selling handmade souvenirs to tourists at farmers' markets, Mr. Hevener's collectible figurines and the prints from his novels are now bought and traded throughout the world. His original paintings and sculptures are sold in galleries, displayed in museums and can be found in many private collections. Today, Ron Hevener's illustrated animal stories are published regularly in magazines, newsletters, newspapers and on websites around the globe.

Mr. Hevener is currently on tour, speaking at bookstores, libraries, theaters, schools, gift stores, pet stores, dog shows, art shows, horse shows and public events. "Your life is a movie," he says. "On With The Show!"
